SEO Tactics to Avoid

I got a dose of SEO early today from Search Engine's Eric Enge from his post SEO Mythbusters: 3 Rotten Ideas. Everyday I try to open www.searchenginewatch to be updated with whats new and happening in the search engine land.

SEO strategies used before may have work successfully whether it is an ethical or unethical approach. However, as the search engines have been doing some developments on their search algorithms, things have changed. Your successful SEO strategies may work before but not today. I've also noticed as I go through the web that the number of competition in SEO services providers are increasing, but are they reliable enough to provide services? My question is not for experienced SEO companies that have prven the excellence of the quality of services that they provide. This is for those "firms" claiming to deliver successful SEO campaigns in a short number of time, worst is giving the client the guarantee to be on top of the search engines in a short period of time. Even an SEO expert will tell that there is no guarantee of successful SEO campaign for there are certain factors that needed to be considered.

Going back to Eric's blog he listed 3 bad ideas that most SEO practitioners implement and will support what I have been saying above.

1. One Size Fits All. Not all websites, products and services are the same. A strategy may work on one website and would not on the other one.

2. Copy What the Large, Successful Sites Did. Agin, it may work on them but not to your website.

3. My Competitor Gets Away With Cheating, so I Should Cheat Too.They are successful eventhough they implement unethical practices. You know aleady that its bad but still you pursue on copying their pracices.

Not all people that claims to know SEO really know what they are doing. SEO is a very complex industry that requires a lot of time, patience and skills.
