The MEGA SEOath and Charter

by: Derrick Wheeler
Senior SEO Architect, Microsoft

There is nothing wrong with my BIG website(s),
The search engines are just stupid.

There is nothing wrong with me,
Everyone else in my organization is just stupid.

Until search engines XX,XXX people in my organization get smarter,
I will continue to ask others to do more work than they would otherwise do
... until everyone loves me.

Until algorithm changes
... and everyone hates me again.

Google Adwords with the Guru - Dr. Glenn Livingston

Creating an account with Google Adwords for your PPC campaign is very easy all you need to do is to sign up or create an account or you may use your existing Google account. As an apprentice for Adwords I took me some time to learn and understand the basics things, I took little steps in moving forward. Research had helped me a lot in understanding Adwords. There are still a lot of things that I need to learn especially in campaign management and conversion. Dr. Glenn Livingston and his blog helped me a lot in my journey in Google Adwords especially in creating effective strategies that really convert.

I would also like to share with you one of the best resource in learning PPC with Adwords at Pay Per Click Search Marketing with Dr. Glenn Livingston.

SEO Tactics to Avoid

I got a dose of SEO early today from Search Engine's Eric Enge from his post SEO Mythbusters: 3 Rotten Ideas. Everyday I try to open www.searchenginewatch to be updated with whats new and happening in the search engine land.

SEO strategies used before may have work successfully whether it is an ethical or unethical approach. However, as the search engines have been doing some developments on their search algorithms, things have changed. Your successful SEO strategies may work before but not today. I've also noticed as I go through the web that the number of competition in SEO services providers are increasing, but are they reliable enough to provide services? My question is not for experienced SEO companies that have prven the excellence of the quality of services that they provide. This is for those "firms" claiming to deliver successful SEO campaigns in a short number of time, worst is giving the client the guarantee to be on top of the search engines in a short period of time. Even an SEO expert will tell that there is no guarantee of successful SEO campaign for there are certain factors that needed to be considered.

Going back to Eric's blog he listed 3 bad ideas that most SEO practitioners implement and will support what I have been saying above.

1. One Size Fits All. Not all websites, products and services are the same. A strategy may work on one website and would not on the other one.

2. Copy What the Large, Successful Sites Did. Agin, it may work on them but not to your website.

3. My Competitor Gets Away With Cheating, so I Should Cheat Too.They are successful eventhough they implement unethical practices. You know aleady that its bad but still you pursue on copying their pracices.

Not all people that claims to know SEO really know what they are doing. SEO is a very complex industry that requires a lot of time, patience and skills.

My Google Adwords Journey Day 1

I've been with the Internet Marketing and SEO for almost a couple and
half years already. And I am working more on article writing, blogging and keyword research. Internet Marketing especially SEO is a complex
field. It is not done in just a night, days or a week. It needs a lot of your time, effort and patience.

Last week I received an email from my boss asking me if I can pass the Google Adwords Professional - GAP exam. PPC isn't my thing, that was the first thing that came into my mind. But, I suddenly thought why not? The company will be paying for the exam and my boss even said that he'll treat me an ice cream when I pass. hehehe Maybe you'll thought that its about the ice cream. It's not. Its the opportunity. So, yesterday I printed some notes from Google Adwords Learning Center.  And after dinner I started reading the baiscs of Adwords.

I am a person that loves to learn and explore things. My company has given me the opportunity to learn and acquire new set of skills. There are still a lot of things that I need to learn about the Web, Internet Marketing, SEO.
